Last night I had an idea. Actually, it was my friend Sam who had the idea.
Hit the road.
When the going gets tough, "punt" I always would say in jest. However, this time it's 99.44% jest free. I think I'm going to do it. Only problem is I've got a number of things to do to prepare, and a seat to be repacked by Corbin which could take 3-4 weeks.
The tentative plan is to take 2-3 days to ride to Wichita, KS, stay a couple days touring some aircraft factories and facilities and take a different route home, possibly through Tulsa. Up to 8 days on the road.
It's been quite a while since I've taken a road trip longer than 300 miles so I'm looking forward to the possibility. Very forward. Thirteen hundred miles. Yum.
If it happens, I'll be taking the Kawasaki Vulcan S. The Fat Bob would ride better, but the Vulcan would be the better ride as it's already set up for distance (GPS, saddle bags, back rest, tank bag, etc.), and I just don't have the funds right now to do much of anything to the Bob.
Other than logistics and the seat, I'll simply need to throw on a set of floorboards (which I already have), and a throttle lock (ditto) and head for the hills (so to speak).
This should be a fun ride. I'll be taking back roads and vlogging the entire way, stopping at various points of interest en route.
So stay tuned. I'll keep you up to date on my progress.
Cheers.

Personally, I think that’s a great idea!
